‘No One Is Safe’, says Bobi Wine, Weeks After The NUP Leader’s Armoured Car Was Confiscated and His Lawyer Was Hospitalised.

This Comes Days After The Attempted Assassination of A Senior Army General Also Cabinet Minister, Gen. KATUMBA WAMALA.

Gen. Katumba Wamala’s Daughter and Driver were Killed. The General was wounded with a bullet still to be removed, due to apparent proximity to an artery.

In a tweet, Bobi Wine who is the leader of Uganda’s largest new political party stated that

‘The assassination attempt on Gen. Katumba Wamala which left his daughter, is another indication that lawlessness doesn’t only affect common citizens but also high ranking members. NO ONE IS SAFE! This is the painful reality. Deep condolences to the family’ https://t.co/m3QGonXTZF.

This comes after a BBC investigation confirmed what was already in the public domain, partly admitted by the ugandan regime and published on a daily basis before, during and after the fateful election of 14 january 2021.

A few weeks ago, Bobi Wine’s new bullet proof car was confiscated under contested circumstances with hefty surcharges of hundreds of thousands of dollars. His lawyer fighting the confiscation, is himself undergoing hospitalisation after suddenly falling ill, according to his wife.

The confiscation of Bobi Wine’s armoured bullet car donated by supporters largely from the diaspora, casts a long spell on his own safety. In 2018, Bobi Wine survived an assasination attempt, that saw the killing of his driver, Yasin Kawuma.( RIP). The boomerang implication is that the regime could be squarely held responsible for Bobi Wine and his family’s safety.

The country is facing a spate of killings and unexplained losses of lives of key people in Uganda. Including among others, ArchBishops, Bishops, Muslim clerics, MPs, senior police officers, NGO officials, journalists and Army officers.

Currently there are well documented reports of thousands of disappearances, torture victims, killings and mass incancerations without trial.

A day after the assassination attempt on his life and the killing of his daughter and child, General Katumba Wamala tweeted:

‘Greetings Uganda!

I survived. I thank God.

While driving in the morning with my daughter, bodyguard and driver heading to my mother in-law's vigil, some terrorists tried to assassinate me.

I survived, but my dear daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and my driver Kayondo Haruna died at the crime scene. I have no clue about the motive of this attack. There was no reason to end the lives of these innocent people. May their souls rest in peace.

My injuries are not alarming. I had surgery last evening, and one of the bullets was removed. However, because of how the other bullet affected my arteries, it was not removed, and the doctors will advise on the way forward.

I pray that one day soon, the terrorists that tried to assassinate me and took the lives of my daughter Brenda and driver Haruna will be brought to book’.

For God and my Country’
